“The Joy of Backyard Bird Feeding” with Jim Walker of Wild Birds Unlimited
During this WRWAC Action Committee meeting on May 5, 2021. Jim Walker makes a presentation on how to make the hobby of bird feeding more enjoyable:
- What food attracts the most variety of birds
- What are the different types of feeders available
- Why water and nesting boxes are so important
- How to thwart those pesky squirrels
- “Top 10 Bird Feeding Mistakes” with guidance on the do’s
- and don’ts of the backyard bird feeding hobby.
We learned about the common mistakes that are made, ways to prevent them and suggestions to help make
the hobby more enjoyable. We also learned about bird walks, bird identification, using binoculars and how to make the most of your experience.
Jim Walker is the proud owner of Wild Birds Unlimited, a retail store in Denville, New Jersey which caters to the backyard bird feeding hobby. After a successful 30-year career in the corporate world, Jim pursued his passion of nature and his enthusiasm toward backyard birds and opened the doors of his WBU store on January 10, 2020.
