Feb., 2, 2022 Action Committee Meeting with Clean Communities and Recycling Tips
New Jersey is trying to become greener in an attempt to become cleaner. Anything we can do to help keep pollution out of the Whippany River watershed and from flowing into the river itself is a bonus. Some new environmental laws trying to limit plastic generation and litter have recently been enacted. The plastic straw ban, already in effect, as well as the single-use plastic ban law, effective May 2022, try to help our cause. Learn about these new requirements with one of the state experts from New Jersey Clean Communities.
As we all try to stay on top of our local recycling requirements, in order to be responsible recyclers, it sometimes seems difficult to know what to and what not to recycle. The recycling experts from the Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority try to help you understand some of do’s and don’ts of recycling in Morris County.
Joann Gemenden,
Executive Director of New Jersey Clean Communities (http://NJClean.org)
Joann will discuss ways municipalities can use their Clean Communities grant funds to help steward the environment and teach about a cleaner and greener tomorrow. Joann will also touch new litter prevention regulations recently adopted in New Jersey regarding plastic bags and plastic straws.
Anthony Marrone, Morris County District Recycling Coordinator and Chris Vidal, Morris County Assistant District Recycling Coordinator (http://MCMUA.com)
Anthony and Chris will provide a refresher on the rules in Morris County regarding recycling, best practices for preparation of materials going to the recycling facility and changes for 2022. They will also be available to answer questions on discarding a variety of items from household hazardous waste and electronics to ordering compost and mulch recycled from Morris County vegetative materials.
