Wildlife Preserves is a private, nonprofit land conservation corporation dedicated to the preservation of natural areas, open space, wildlife, and wildlife habitats for conservation, education and research. Wildlife Preserves owns approximately 4,500-acres of land and manages roughly 9,500-acres in the State of New Jersey. The NJ Watershed Ambassadors – An AmeriCorps Program Dedicated to Environmental Education & Stewardship with Anthony Tamberelli

You can come in person or tune in Via Zoom. Join us as we welcome our current Watershed Ambassador for Watershed Management Area #6 – Upper Passaic, Whippany & Rockaway Watersheds Anthony Tamberelli. Anthony will talk about the NJWAP experience — from program requirements to examples of activities and projects completed. Anthony is a Montclair State University alum with a Master’s and Bachelor’s in Marine Biology — dedicating four years to research on curtailing non-native jellyfish populations in Barnegat Bay. After graduating from MSU, Anthony aspired to use his knowledge and experience to educate others about science and nature. He first found a place at Round Valley Recreation Area, where he served as a Visitor Service Assistant and taught visitors about the park’s environment. He was then rewarded with a position in the AmeriCorps NJ Watershed Ambassadors Program alongside 22 other Watershed Ambassadors, where he currently teaches people about our local watersheds and how to protect them. americorps.gov

You can come in person or tune in Via Zoom. Sandra LaVigne of Great Swamp Watershed Association will give an in-depth talk on PFAS (polyfluoroalkyl substances) – in our environment. She will cover current data on PFAS in our local waterways, regulations that impact PFAS in our drinking water, and information on how and where PFAS are being used.

PFAS In Our Water
PIZZA IS BACK!! Join us for a slice or two.
Sandra LaVigne has been with GSWA since March 2016. Prior to joining GSWA she worked as a water quality specialist and restoration ecologist managing water quality programs and restoration projects. Sandra is a native of northern New Jersey and attended Cook College, Rutgers University. Sandra oversees the GWSA water quality monitoring efforts and organizes their citizen science volunteers who assist in collecting a wide scope of data throughout the watershed. In 2019, Sandra established and implemented GSWA’s first-ever microplastics sampling protocol and integrated it into her water quality monitoring program.
